Final Project

It has often struck me that one of the bitterest ironies is the sheer multitude of people willing to ignore all manner of definitive fact are the same ones who never understand how we are failing to progress as a society and a nation. In reality, it is not wholly their fault, as there is an equally great number of sources vying for control in order to steer people away from facts. Facts seem to take second place when dealing with any topic now. You don’t want the facts to get in the way of the story. If facts are apparently so dangerous and malicious, why is nobody standing up to this deadly threat? Well, now someone has. With my project, I attempted to create a poster warning people away from the dangers of facts and malicious “truth”. In this obvious satire, I hope I can, at the very least, allow people to consider where the things they say come from.realfinalnew

Some propaganda

Here are some of the propaganda posters relating to the concepts for my next project.

These first couple all fit the general style, although the second one is probably a modern-made satirical poster. It is slightly ironic, considering the topic I’m working on.

These next few all use the general color scheme I plan on using. There’s something very striking about red, yellow and black used together that looks quite intimidating. The last one also sort of relates to the concept, and it’s a favorite of mine due to its simplicity and memorability.

These last ones relate more with the idea, just in terms of broad message, being given by stern gentlemen or simple messages. Especially “HET!”. So direct.

Nature Project Final

It is easy to consider mankind to be separate from nature. We oftentimes seem so distant from it, cut off from the natural world. In truth, however, we come from nature, we are a part of nature, and eventually we will return to nature. Upon starting this project, what immediately came to mind for me was an old abandoned house I had found previously. The walls are broken and bare, the ceiling caves in, and slowly but surely, nature is beginning to reclaim it. Thus, my project served to illustrate this fundamental concept of the cycle mankind faces. The diptych style of the project allowed me to create two separate views, one from inside and one from out. Both appear to continue endlessly, repeating in on themselves as the house goes on. In this way, I have visualized something not often thought about, working with ideas of decay and creation simultaneously to create something unique.
